THE SECRET TO PRAYER

I Love Khalil Gibran’s take on Prayer. We share Lebanese roots so when he refers to the mountains and seas, it touches my heart so deeply:

“I cannot teach you how to pray in words. God listens not to your words save when He Himself utters them through your lips. And I cannot teach you the prayer of the seas and the forests and the mountains. But you who are born of the mountains and the forests and the seas can find their prayer in your heart.

And if you but listen in the stillness of the night, you shall hear them saying in silence, “Our God, who are our winged self, it is thy will in us that willeth. It is thy desire in us that desireth.”

When I lived in Paris and started a meditation practice, I was so surrendered in my prayer. As a result of that, everything I wanted – and more! – was coming to me with so much ease and grace.

I had created a super clear grid for my desires. But after that, I just practiced letting go, every day.

When I returned to London, the old ways started to slowly seep into my system. London is where I grew up, had a top notch education and a career in finance… So the ego’s programming was set in stone.

When things started to get hard again, I knew it was time for me to go deeper.

Prayer is the medium of miracles

When the prayer is focused on what we think we want:

• The guy
• The money
• The career etc

It’s a good start, at least we believe that the Universe is helpful. But A Course in Miracles refers to this kind of prayer as magic. You’re telling God what you want and yes, Life can deliver !

But what if you’re actually getting in the way of the Grand Design of your Life ? What if you’re wasting time achieving these little goals when you can co-create on a much bigger scale ?

And how many times have you gotten what you wished for only to realise that it didn’t actually feel good.

The Universe’s plans for you are So much better than what we can possibly imagine.

NeuroScience shows that we’re using under 10% of our brain’s capacity. So whatever you’re dreaming up is only a tiny fraction of what Life actually has in mind for you.

When we get super specific in our prayers, we limit the Universe’s genius plans for us; And its magnificent orchestration.

Plus, you’re praying from a place of lack. Lack begets lack. You’re essentially saying to the universe that something is missing. So Life goes in search of more things that are missing. And your world now expands in the direction of lack.

The Secret to Prayer

A Course in Miracles teaches that you are the Light of the world and that you already have Everything you need within you. You are connected to an infinite Source of Love and power. And every answer and solution are available to you now.

So when you pray for the Highest good, you connect to the miracle territory that is yours by Divine right.

When your prayer is for something out there… As in, when I have this or that, I’ll be happy, you miss the Present. And all the wonderful ideas trying to reach you !

The greatest gift you can give in Life is your Presence. When you uplift yourself from the me, me, me’ness of fear, Life can whisper to you and create through you. It can use you to share your Light with the world.

Remember, like attracts like. So as you feel into the current abundance that exists in your world – Be it sunshine, flowers, Mother Nature or clean water… Your feelings of abundance will call in more abundance to you.

Whatever you think you want, it’s because you think it will make you happy. But if happiness is the goal, why not just get happy right now ? That vibe is magnetic to all your good 🌟

The Surrender Experiment

The process of surrender is actually much harder than it sounds, particularly when fear has you in a grip. The ego mind will try to hold on to the idea that what it thinks it needs is the answer. After a few tries the ego’s way, we usually figure out that it’s only a band-aid solution and not the real thing.

Just ask yourself how your plan has been working out so far ?!

The secret to prayer is your willingness to surrender your desires and become super open minded to the process. Your continual prayer will lead you, step by step, to all the answers. The universe works through people, books, music and so much more. Expect miracles ! The right messages, teachers, videos, podcasts… It will all show up in perfect timing.

John Singer wrote a great book about his own Surrender Experiment and how by letting go his personal preferences and allowing Life to lead the way, he built a billion dollar public company, now a recognised achievement, archived in the Smithsonian !
